BLYTHE, Ga.---A Blythe man was shot in the head by his best friend.

Investigators arrested 58-year-old Henry Williams last night and charged him with the shooting.

It was a gruesome scene inside a Blythe mobile home Friday night. Wilbert Fuller was shot...and authorities say his best friend pulled the trigger.

Wilbert Fuller was on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and Cheyenne Davis Williams was the first to walk in on the scene, where he found his uncle with the gun.

"When I walked in the door I seen Wilbert laying on the floor and my uncle acting kind of crazy, saying, 'I guess I done messed up this time'," Cheyenne told News 12.

"He was scared. He knew he'd made a mistake, one that probably couldn't be corrected."

The police arrested and charged Henry Williams for shooting his best friend and neighbor Wilbert Fuller. But Cheyenne says his uncle told him the shooting was an accident.

"He had the gun and was clicking it and on one click it was shot and Wilbert fell. Then he called the police and we waited."

Investigators say Williams was with Fuller when police arrived to the house.

"He didn't run," Cheyenne Williams said. "He just sat there looking crazy, so to speak, because he didn't know what to say or do."

Neither did the small Blythe community, as word of the shooting sent phones ringing off the hook.

"Everybody's just stunned about it," said family friend Willie Martin. "Everybody's talking about it, calling each other to find out what happened."

Fuller and Williams were lifelong friends. Williams even let Fuller live in a mobile home on his property for years. But that closeness is gone for now, as one man is in the hospital, and the other in jail.

Richmond County investigators had no comment on any motive behind the shooting, saying they have yet to question the victim.

Friends of Fuller's say he's on life support and may be paralyzed from the shooting.

Henry Williams is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm.
