JENKINS COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- Three Jenkins County High School students are in trouble with the law after allegedly drinking beer on school property last week.

Sheriff Robert Oglesby says the Sheriff's Office was called to the school on Friday and deputies found three students with beer.

The three male students are all 17 years old. Their names are not being released at this time.

The sheriff says he believes the three teens are all athletes at the school -- either baseball or football players or both.

The teens were each charged with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor and were released to their parents.

The matter has been turned over to the school district for action.
