AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Three people have been arrested over a hundred political signs were defaced in the Augusta area last night.

The signs supporting Mitt Romney and Lee Anderson were paid for by the Anderson campaign. The vandalized signs were found in both Richmond and Columbia counties just hours after the second presidential debate.

The smaller signs appear to have been snatched up.

Here is a news release from the Anderson campaign:
"Following the Town Hall Debate at Hofstra University, in which Mitt Romney challenged President Barack Obama and Washington Democrats on their failed economic and foreign policy initiatives, Anderson/Romney campaign signs and the Lee Anderson for Congress Campaign Headquarters were vandalized. In response to the vandalization, Ryan Mahoney, Communications Director for Lee Anderson, issued the following statements:

'This is what Democrats do when they are losing,' said Mahoney. 'They lie about gutting Medicare, they lie about raising taxes, and they deface campaign signs and property. This is ridiculous, inexcusable, and down-right criminal and we intend to press charges for this juvenile and destructive behavior.'

Red spray paint was used to deface numerous signs at the Lee Anderson for Congress Campaign Headquarters in Evans, Ga. Large signs throughout Columbia and Richmond counties were also vandalized. The total damage is still being assessed.

Reagan Williams, campaign manager for Lee Anderson, filed a police report with the Columbia County Sheriff's Department this morning."
