The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has identified Jamal Beal as the suspect in the Beech Island shooting.

BEECH ISLAND, S.C. -- A 21-year-old turned himself in on Monday in connection to the shooting of a 16-year-old in Beech Island.
Jamal Beal is in jail, charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and attempted distribution of marijuana.
Aiken County officers were called to Cary Drive in Beech Island around 4:41 a.m. on Saturday to investigate a shooting. When they arrived, officers found a 16-year-old male victim lying in the back seat of a car with a single gunshot wound to the head.
According to people in the car, the group was driving down Cary Drive in an attempt to purchase illegal drugs and allegedly Beal shot at the car. That's when the 16-year-old was struck in the head with the bullet. The victim is now being treated at an Augusta hospital, and according to the Sheriff's Office, he is in critical condition.
