AUGUSTA, Ga. - The body of 22-year old Jimmy Quarles was found at 310 1st Street in downtown Augusta.
Officers arrived at the scene around 12:45 pm. The body was found in the backyard of an abandoned house near a car.
Investigators say Quarles died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Sgt. Richard Roundtree says it appears the shooting happened at the abandoned home and it's not a case where the body was dropped off.
"Our main goal is to see what brought the subject to this particular area and what led to this violent act," said Roundtree.
