NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - People who live in North Augusta describe it as a quiet town. But in the past month, crime has increased.

Since the beginning of October, there have been 4 shootings -- one at Ridgeview Manor Apartments, one on Melody Lane, another on Seymour Drive and most recently, a teenager shot in the leg off of Five Notch Road.

Lt. Tim Pearson says it's out of the ordinary to have so many shootings in less than a month.

"It's not that common to have them. They all seem to have occurred here within the last month or so," said Pearson. "I feel confident that a lot of this is drug-related."

In addition to the shootings, there was also a big drug bust during the past month on Currytown Lane in North Augusta. Police are working around the clock to solve each crime.

"Any crime we're going to give a 110% effort toward solving. We can't tolerate shooting anywhere in the city. When we see something like that we're going to act on it appropriately and quickly," Pearson said.

What I don't understand is why the drug dealers get their rights before we get ours. It's been reported and still nothings been done. What happen to the rights of the people who work real jobs and try to live in peace.
