AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- An Aiken man is sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in a 2013 murder and armed robbery.
Makese East was convicted of murder, armed robbery and burglary today. He is one of the four suspects arrested after the May 2013 shooting that killed Shane Jones, 19, and injured another in Crosland Park.
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- Two of the men accused of killing a man during an armed robbery in 2013 have pleaded guilty to their charges.
Leon Simmons and Brian Morton entered guilty pleas this morning in court. The two men along with three others are accused of murder, armed robbery and first-degree burglary in the death of 19-year-old Shane Jones.
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- Four suspects have been arrested in the overnight shooting in Aiken that killed one person and injured another.
Leon Jacob Simmons, Reshawn Isaac, Brian Morton and Markese Dequam East have been arrested and are charged with murder, armed robbery and first-degree burglary.
The Aiken County Sheriff's Office; the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms RAGE; and members of the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office assisted in the arrests.
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- Aiken Public Safety officers say one person is dead and another is injured after a shooting at home on Aldrich Street around midnight.
Officers are looking for the shooters in the Crosland Park area. So far, no arrests have been made.
Investigators say the armed suspects came into the home and began shooting.
Officers found the body of 19-year-old Shane Jones inside the home. Autopsy results show he died after being shot multiple times. Jones is said to have lived at the home where the shooting happened.
The other shooting victim, a female, drove herself to the hospital after being shot in the leg. Her injuries are not said to be life threatening.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety, the Coroner's Office and the State Law Enforcement Division are investigating the shooting.
