SC unemployment down at 10.6 percent for November

Friday, December 17, 2010

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina's unemployment rate improved for the third month in a row to 10.6 percent in November.

The Department of Employment and Workforce reported Friday that the total number of jobs in South Carolina declined slightly from the previous month even though the jobless rate improved slightly from 10.7 percent in October.

The state's unemployment rate has declined from an all-time high of 12.5 percent in January.

University of South Carolina economists said earlier this month that the state likely will have little or no job growth for the year and predicted only slight improvement next year.
