AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The jobless rate declined in the CSRA in March.

March's rate in the CSRA is at 8.6 percent. That's equal to the rate a year ago, and slightly lower than February's rate. Jenkins County has the highest unemployment rate in our area at 17.6 percent.

Columbia County's jobless rate is the best. It sits at 6.8 percent.

Statewide, Georgia has a 9.3 percent unemployment. That's down .4 points since February. Across the state, more than 13,000 jobs were added. There were fewer layoffs last month in construction manufacturing, retail, transportation and administrative services.
