COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The international automotive parts producer Gestamp is expanding its operations in Union County and adding about 100 new jobs.
Gov. Nikki Haley's spokesman Rob Godfrey said Thursday the firm intends to invest more than $51 million in the expansion and will begin hiring in January 2012.
Gestamp North America President John Craig says the expansion will add about 150,000 square feet to its existing plant and will be completed in 2013.
Craig says the expansion is needed to handle new business contracts.
The firm's website says it has operations in 22 nations around the world and employs more than 25,000 people.
