Jobless, job seeker rates may mean people giving up

July 15, 2010

The jobless rate in Georgia fell in June, but that's not necessarily good news.

The rate fell a tenth of a point to ten percent. However, the number of people looking for jobs fell too. There was also a decline in the overall number of jobs available.

That could be a sign that more people are just giving up in the search for a job as any economic rebounds lose steam.

Augusta lost 1,700 jobs in June. Many of them were government jobs.
