AUGUSTA---Job cuts and furloughs could be a big issue at the Augusta Commission this week. Directors at Augusta's 9-1-1 Center and Richmond County Corrections could be out.
The city is reorganizing to save money. Leaders say the city is overstaffed in all departments, and the cuts are necessary to climb out of a $9 million deficit.
These retirements at 9-1-1 and the Tobacco Road prison are just two of 30 positions that might be affected by the cuts.
