COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture is sponsoring a community meeting that South Carolina officials hope will spark a discussion on job creation.

The round-table on economic growth is Wednesday in Columbia. Officials hope the event will give residents and business owners an opportunity to discuss ways to accelerate job growth in rural America.

The event is a follow-up to a forum held by President Barack Obama at the White House last month.

Organizers say the president has asked members of his Cabinet to gather ideas from local communities on ways to grow the economy and put Americans back to work.
