AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Georgia Department of Labor reports that the unemployment rate in metro Augusta did not change from June to July. It stayed at 10.2 percent.
The number of unemployed people did increase from July of 2008 to July of 2009. In 2008, 8,802 people were out of work compared to 26,641 in July 2009.
According to the Department of Labor, most of the job losses included manufacturing, trade, transportation, businesses services, and construction jobs. Over the year, health care, private educational services, and governmental education jobs increased by about 19,600.
