GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) -- Fujifilm says it will open a new lab at its South Carolina plant to expand the company's digital photo printing operations.
The company said Wednesday it will soon begin work on the new lab in Greenwood and hopes to have it operating by fall to handle Christmas orders. Officials say the lab will bring new jobs to the state, but they didn't specify how many.
Company leaders say the new lab will take advantage of the rapid growth of the personal photo products market. Workers will make personal photo gifts that will be delivered to customers at retails stores and through direct mail.
Fujifilm opened the Greenwood plant in 1988. The complex now has five labs that make printing plates, recyclable cameras and color photo paper.
