On Monday, June 1, there will be a briefing given by Sixth District Congressman and House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn and representatives from Savannah River Site will hold a briefing on $1.6 billion for cleanup projects at SRS. The briefing, followed by a job fair, will be held at Midlands Technical College Northeast campus in Columbia at 10:30 a.m.
The money is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and is to pay for cleanup projects at SRS which will provide thousands of jobs in the area, according to a spokesperson.
The Job Fair will run from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and is hosted by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the Fluor Daniel Partnership operating SRS. Midlands Technical College is located at 151 Powell Road in Columbia, just off Highway 77 and Farrow Road.
