ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that they've seen an increase in the amount of laid off workers.
This November, the department says 74,480 laid off workers filed for first time claims for unemployment insurance benefits, and that's a 54 .7 percent increase from November 2007
The areas with the highest percentage of increase in claims are Dalton, Rome, and Warner Robins. Augusta, Albany, and Valdosta are on the list for the lowest increase in claims.
The Department reports that Augusta only had a 22.8% increase in unemployment insurance benefits.
