AIKEN, S.C. --- With the tough economy, lots of people are looking for a job and temp agencies are keeping very busy. Aiken Staffing is one of those places and people like Veronda Campbell are facing a lot of competition for the same jobs.

"With that kinds of experience, that'll be helpful," says Aiken Staffing's Isaac Kelly to Veronda. The applications at the temp agency are piling high and you can add Veronda to the stack.

"As long as my resume stands out on top, I'll be amongst the top to be picked," hopes Veronda. "It's stressful. It's really stressful to be out pounding the pavement everyday looking for somebody who thinks you're above the best."

As Veronda looks for a job, this is the place where Isaac Kelly comes into play. "We have have a lot of jobs that we are offering right now... there are companies out there hiring," says Isaac.

So, things are looking up for Veronda. But, take a look at these numbers. Compared to this time last year, Aiken Staffing is seeing at least a 25% increase in people like Veronda, looking for a job.

"It's just hectic to have to go out there and compete with everything that is going on," says Veronda. Competing is something Veronda will have to do now. That's because more applicants means more competition, but there is a big plus.

"We do have a lot of seasonal work coming up so hopefully that'll keep some money in some pockets here," says Isaac. Money in people's pockets to the tune of about 225-250 pockets full at one time and 75 more people looking to fill those pockets every week.

"I'm going to just keep praying that I'm blessed to find a job soon. Unemployment isn't going to last forever," says Veronda.

Here's what you need at Aiken Staffing when you go to look for a job. You have to be at least 18 years old, bring 2 forms of ID to prove you can work in the US, make sure you have your job history on your resume and of course, dress professionally. Chances are you will have an interview on the spot when you go there to give them your resume.

The whole process should only take about an hour and a half. But, if you are applying for clerical or administrative jobs, the amount of time to apply could be longer.

Also, a big plus here at Aiken Staffing. If you work 80 hours you can get health insurance benefits. But, make sure you check with other agencies to find out what policy they use.
