AUGUSTA---It's been a long time coming, but this is the week: the former Wachovia bank branches are being renamed Wells Fargo in our area.
The most visible signs, literally, are at the downtown branch on Broad Street. The Wells Fargo letters there are six feet tall. They're being lifted into place, starting today, with the help of some big cranes.
When the red and yellow sign is complete, it'll be nearly 70 feet long.
The other branches have had new signs covered by plastic. They'll be unveiled Saturday (October 23).
