MCCORMICK, S.C. (WRDW) -- In what may be a sign of a changing economy, a South Carolina resort reopened this week.

The Savannah Lakes Resort in McCormick was forced to shut down in 2010, leaving some scrambling to change wedding and vacation plans.

Three years later, the property has been renovated, updated and reopened.

Austin Trupp, owner of the resort, says many of the former employees have been rehired and there is a possibility that they'll be rehiring more.

“Its seems crazy that this magnificent property ever had to close its doors, but this downturn in business activity and decline in property values has had some strange and profound effects across all sectors of the economy,” says Austin Trupp, the resort’s owner, in a news release.

Trupp, his wife and their three children operate the resort.
