NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.---Can you imagine ushering in the new year as a multi-millionaire? Well, someone out there could strike it rich with Friday night's Mega Millions Jackpot.

It only costs one dollar and you could start off 2011 with a bang. The jackpot is sitting at $242 million dollars. Area convenience stores say people have been steadily coming in all week to try and win big.

"It's a recession time so I'm thinking maybe I might have a chance. It is very exciting, so we'll just see. It's the luck of the draw so... we'll see what happens," says Mayra Jones of Augusta.

"I can't even tell you my reaction but I'd probably have a heart attack," adds Robert Synenberg of North Augusta.

Sales for Mega Millions tickets in both Georgia and South Carolina benefit education. The drawing is Friday night at 11:00 on News 12.
