AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Jobs in Augusta come few and far between.

"I have what it takes to get any job that is offered to me," said Triston Bowie, a Goodwill career fair applicant.

Bowie walked in with his head held high, hoping to find a new job that will make him more money.

"I've been doing it for a while, and I'm trying to see if I can get another job on top of it because I am here by myself, I'm just trying to make some more money," Bowie said.

His journey brought him here to Augusta where he had nothing but the clothes on his back.

Bowie says he was hoping for a new life.

"I'd go to the Goodwill Job Connection every day, using the resources to look for jobs, and within a week, I had three job interviews, and then I finally landed a job with Sears," Bowie said.

But many don't realize the other side of the operation.

"We just always want to make sure there are opportunities for people to find great careers," said Susan Everett, director of communications for Goodwill.

Everett says they are bringing some of Augusta's top employers to their one-of-a-kind center.

"The Goodwill industry's here is the only one in the world to offer all of the services and departments," Everett said.

From a culinary school to The Job Connection and even a full-service restaurant.

"We want people to come today and to be able to get a job or start to get a job today," Everett said.

But for Bowie, it goes beyond the job.

"I needed a bike, they provided it. I needed clothes, they provided it," he said. "I can say that from the bottom of my heart, I am glad there is a place called the Goodwill."
