ATLANTA -- The unemployment rate in Georgia remained at 10 percent in September.
The state Department of Labor said Thursday that September was the 36th consecutive month that joblessness in Georgia exceeded the national unemployment rate, currently at 9.6 percent.
Labor Commission Michael Thurmond said the job market remains weak and employers have not been hiring at a pace necessary for a recovery.
The long-term unemployed now account for half of the more than 466,000 jobless workers in the state.
