AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The downsizing of the workforce at the Procter and Gamble plant in Augusta has begun.
P&G Spokesman Jeff Leroy says about 160 jobs are being cut, leaving 35 to 40 employees at the plant.
Leroy says the downsizing should be complete by next year.
About half of the employees who are leaving are transferring to other P&G facilities, including Alexandria, La., and Lima, Ohio.
The plans for the restructuring were announced in November of last year.
