Going green can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. In fact, helping the environment can actually save you some green.
We've all heard turning down the heat or air conditioning can save money on your power bill, but I've stumbled across a few other ways to trim the financial fat when it comes to your laundry.
- Wash your clothes in cold water. That's a lot more energy efficient, and being energy efficient can save you money.
- Dry your clothes with tennis balls. Toss 2 or 3 (very clean ones of course) into the dryer.
It speeds up the process. This works with a whole load or just one item.
- Have a stain that's giving you a big headache? Pills can help. Dissolve two aspirin in a half cup of warm water. Then apply the solution to the stained fabric. Leave it alone for a couple hours and wash.
- Foil can really help you with ironing. Put some on top of the ironing board. The foil reflects the heat, so that both sides get ironed at the same time. As they say, time is money.
Give these a shot. The only thing you have to lose...is money.
