Morning Money Matters: Free trees with Arbor Day Foundation membership

News 12 This Morning; March 5, 2009

Spring officially starts later this month, so now's a good time to get planting. How does some free trees sound?

Well, they're free after a donation, but ten bucks for ten trees? These days, you can't even get ten packs of gum for ten dollars, but the trees are yours join the Arbor Day Foundation.

You buy a six month membership for ten bucks, or you can join for a year for fifteen dollars. Both packages give you ten free trees, and you've got a list to pick from. Flowering trees, eastern red cedars, oaks, redbuds, and white dogwoods are just some of the choices.

Ok, so maybe you don't have a green thumb. You can decide for the Arbor Foundation to plant the trees for you in a forest in need.

Either way, you're helping the environment, and you don't have to spend a lot of green to get a lot of green.
