Paying off your credit card could do more than eliminate your debt. It could put some extra money in your pocket.
How does $300 sound?
American Express is willing to give it to you, if you close your account.
The only catch is you have to pay off your entire balance by April 30th. The idea behind all of this is reducing risk.
The credit card company simply wants to protect itself against defaults as the recession deepens. They're targeting customers who owe multiple lenders. This isn't for everyone, though, who has multiple credit cards, so if you have an American Express card, you'll want to ask the company if you qualify.
If you do you could have an extra $300 in your pocket. Who doesn't need that?
