AUGUSTA, Ga. --- It's a sign of progress on busy Washington Road in Augusta.
"I think that it really kind of brings everything a little more upscale and gives lots of different options for different people," Lea Rader said.
Fresh Market is building a new and bigger store in the same shopping center. The manager says it will l be a third bigger than the store they have now and will offer more products and produce. And more growth is happening just down the road.
Kobe Steakhouse now open in the Washington Walk Shopping Center by Kroger. Einstein Brothers Bagels is scheduled to open March 31st. Five Guys Burgers and Fries will open in about two weeks. And crews say Moe's Southwest Grill will open the second week of March. The project manager at Moe's says it will be the same layout as the Moe's in Evans. Seating about 100 people. There will also be outdoor seating.
"As Augusta's economy continues to moderately grow, I think that will provide more pay checks in the community every week, and businesses like Five Guys, and Moe's, and Kobe, and some of the others, they'll be able to benefit from those additional jobs thats coming in to Augusta," Development Authority of Richmond County, Walter Sprouse said.
Sprouse calling it a hot spot for commercial activity along Washington Road.
"They'll do well right here with the Masters, and still all the other restaurants around here, Somewhere in Augusta, T.G.I. Friday's, still get a lot of business. So I think they'll do the same," Clark Construction Services, Bill Quattlebaum said.
And as the signs continue to go up, more people are anxious about what kind of doors will open next.
