January 20, 2009; News 12 This Morning
It's expensive being a woman, isn't it? I know a lot of you are like me and spend a lot of money on make-up, but Tuesday, January 20th, you get a break. More than a dozen department stores across the country are giving away $175 million worth of cosmetics.
Here's the deal: just go to Macy's or Dillard's, go to your favorite cosmetics counter, and ask for a free product. All you have to do is sign something saying you bought cosmetics from that store between May 29, 1994 and July 16, 2003. It on the honor system; you don't need a receipt to prove it.
This is all part of a class action lawsuit against more than a dozen stores about alleged price fixing. The only two stores in our area, though, are Macy's and Dillard's. A cosmetics rep at Macy's tells me, it also has to do with some brands not giving out enough samples. Anyway, this is the stores' way of making amends.
Again, it starts Tuesday, and is billed as a "while supplies last" offer, but
a little birdie told me, you want to go today to make sure you get your free product.
