It's Christmas Eve, so all day today, you can bet stores are packed with people looking for last minute gifts. However, you can avoid the madness and the crowds by giving free gifts.
That's right: free, or almost free. They say, it's the thought that counts, right?
Well, count on this to go over well: coupons that you make yourself.
Kids can do them for things like a free night of washing the dishes, and adults can make them too.
If anyone talks to my husband, I'd like some laundry coupons.
Yes, that would be nice.
How about a book of quotes? This is really personal. Grab a notebook and go on the Internet and search for quotes about love, or friendship, or maybe comedy. I searched "funny family quotes" and found this one: "Some family trees bear an enormous crop of nuts." My mom would love a book filled with stuff like that.
Christmas goodies always go over well too. Cookies and candies and brownies, oh my! Seriously, who doesn't love that?
Music can also be a free gift from the heart. Make a mixed CD of songs that have special meaning or are part of an inside joke.
Babysitting or pet sitting is a great gift that doesn't cost you anything. It gives your friends or family a night out or a weekend away, which we all know can be priceless.
So don't panic, don't fight the crowds today, and oh yeah, don't spend any money.
