DEL RAY BEACH, Fla.---Office Depot announced plans Wednesday to close 112 retail stores in North America over the next three months. The company currently has 1275 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
Eight of those stores are in the South. Office Depot currently has two
stores in the CSRA, one in Augusta and the other in North Augusta.
The company did not give specifics on which stores will be closing.
Additionally, 14 stores will be closed through 2009 as their leases expire or other lease arrangements are made.
The company also plans to reduce its new store openings in 2009 from 40 to approximately 20 stores. The company also plans to close six of its 33 distribution centers in North America.
