AUGUSTA, Ga.---It's coming along, but it won't be open for business until sometime next year. The national dealership not only sells cars, it buys them too, something the local dealerships say they look forward to competing against.

Adam Logemann bought the, now Gordon Chevrolet, a little more than a year ago. Call it bad timing, or good timing but he thinks the Augusta area is better off in this economy than other cities are.

"In this region, sales are down. If you compare us, Augusta, to certain areas of the county that are absolutely devastated, I would count us very fortunate," says Adam.

Fortunate, that car dealerships are in the plenty, so you have a lot of choices. But now you have one more. Carmax has started work on a new superstore on more than five acres that will bring anywhere from 50 to 75 jobs.

Sure, Adam's seen business slow, but he welcomes the idea of the new Carmax. He thinks it will bring out the best in the local business.

"Bringing more solid competition to this town will only increase our ability to show how we're better than the competition and how we can better serve our customers," says Adam.

And as Adam glances around his lot, he points one thing out. All the red tags mean big savings, which will hopefully drive business up.

Now Carmax just announced last month that they would be cutting about 600 jobs nationally. More bad news for the company came today, when it's creator, Circuit City, filed for bankruptcy. As of right now, they don't expect that will halt building here in Augusta.
