NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. --- News 12 took one local school supply list, and visited several area stores to see how the savings stack up. Our list was provided by Columbia Middle School, in Columbia County. We visited several retailers, including K-Mart, Dollar General, Walgreens, and Dollar Tree.

During this unscientific survey, we found that no store had every item on the list. However several did come close to stocking every item. The quality and brand varied by retailer. The prices we quoted, were those posted on the shelves with the items.

Of the stores we visited, Dollar General seemed to offer the most items, at the best price. We were able to fill about 90% of our list with them. Dollar Tree was a close second with price, but offered less selection. Walgreens offered a lot of selection, but at higher prices than Dollar General.

You can download the full, unscientific survey from the link above.
