AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State Head Coach Dip Metress announced Thursday night the dismissal of Chad July from the Jaguar Men’s Basketball program, effective immediately, for conduct detrimental to the team.

July, a 6-9, 245-pound senior center from Gainesville, Fla., transferred into the ASU Men’s Basketball program in August, 2012 after spending three seasons at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. He played in each of the Jags’ first 11 games and made seven straight starts to open the season. He averaged 3.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game – third-best on the team -- while posting a field-goal percentage of .313. He averaged 20.4 minutes per game and led the team in rebounding in three of the first four games. He scored a season-high seven points on two occasions, including at Francis Marion on Jan. 2.

“We have certain standards and expectations within our program that everyone associated with our program has to meet on a daily basis,” Metress said. “We wish Chad nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
