Miami, Fl--It's been 44 long days since Alabama and Notre Dame have played football. Tonight, they play on the biggest stage of all with a BCS title at stake in Miami. Two of the richest football traditions square off and now we'll see if it lives up to the hype.

If you go by the stats, this will be a defensive struggle. The Tide and irish are one-two in the nation in points given up, holding teams to right around 10 points a game. If it's a close game, that may favor the golden domers, having won six games by less then 10 points. How about the SEC factor?? Bama has won two of the last three crowns and the conference has won six straight. Now though, time to play the game

"We're going to play the way we've played all year" said brian Kelly "We're going to play fast, we're going to play aggressive because we don't carry all those preconcieved burdens. They're 18 to 21 year olds, they have no idea what that history means."

"I think that having those two traditions come together in a game like this, certainly creates national interest which is probably good for national interest." said Nick Saban

Of course there's plenty of star power, Notre Dame's Manti Te'o was second in the Heisman and he and the Irish defense will be put to the test. AJ McCarron and company are averaging nearly 40 points a game. but as Notre Dame's Brian Kelly said, this will be old fashion football decided by the big fellas up front
