Greensboro, NC--North Augusta product Matt NeSmith fired a first round even par 70 at the Wyndham Championship in his first ever PGA Tour event.
NeSmith is the top ranked AJGA golfer in the country and showed some nerves early on making four bogeys in his first five holes. He quickly rebounded with three birdies in his next five holes. He had one of each on his final nine holes of the day.
NeSmith is headed to South Carolina after the tournament to become a Gamecock and received a sponsors invite to the event after winning the AJGA FJ Championships.
Swainsboro's Blake Adams and Charles Howell III are the low locals in the field, both were -3. Carl Pettersson is your leader after the first round with an -8 62.
