AUGUSTA, Ga. – One of the most formidable schedules in school history awaits the Augusta State Men’s Golf team. Jaguar head coach Kevin McPherson, entering his second season at the helm of the program, recently put the finishing touches on the 2012-13 slate.

ASU, which returns three starters from its NCAA Regional squad last spring, opens the season Sept. 8-9 at the Northern Intercollegiate and hosted by Northern Illinois at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. Rich Harvest Farms played host to the 2009 Solheim Cup team, won by the United States. McPherson’s sister Kristy was a member of the victorious U.S. squad

“Our schedule is as good as any in the country,” McPherson said. “We’ll get to see some great golf courses and play against the best teams in the country. We’ve mixed things up a little bit with a couple of new events, but we also have several opportunities for Jaguar Nation to see us play fairly close to home.”

The Jags return to action Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, hosted by the University of Illinois at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club. OFCC was the site of the 2003 U.S. Open won by Jim Furyk.

ASU makes its first in-state appearance Oct. 5-7 in the Brickyard Collegiate Championship. The Jags will be making their fifth straight appearance in the tournament, hosted by Mercer University and played at The Brickyard at Riverside in Macon. Ga.

ASU returns to the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational for the fourth time in Windermere, Fla., on Oct. 21-23. The Jags close out their fall schedule Oct. 29-30 when they make their second straight trip to Dallas, Texas for the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate hosted by SMU and Baylor.

The Jags kick off the 2013 portion of their schedule off the U.S. mainland when they make their first appearance in the Puerto Rico Classic. The tourney, hosted by Purdue University Feb. 17-19, is contested at Coco Beach Country Club, and regarded as one of the top collegiate events annually.

Two trips to the state of South Carolina follow, first for the Cleveland Golf/Palmetto Intercollegiate on March 11-12 in Aiken, S.C., at historic Palmetto Golf Club. For the ninth straight year, ASU will head to the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, slated for March 24-26 at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C., just outside of Charleston.

The Jags close out their regular-season schedule April 6-7 with their home event -- the Insperity Augusta State Invitational -- at Forest Hills Golf Club. The two-day, 54-hole event will again feature one of the top fields of any tournament in the nation.
