Augusta, GA – The Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 2-1 on Friday after the game was called after inclement weather.

The GreenJackets struck in the bottom of the first when Kelby Tomlinson came around to score on a Devin Harris single. The RiverDogs were quick to respond with a run of their own when Saxon Butler hit an RBI single through the right side to plate Robert Refsnyder and tie the game in the top of the second inning.

The RiverDogs broke through the 1-1 tie on an RBI single off the bat of Dante Bichette Jr. in the top of the fourth inning.

A steady rain fall called for a rain delay and eventually the game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Despite being out-run by the RiverDogs, the GreenJackets out-hit them 6-5. Jesus Galindo, Tomlinson, and Harris all recorded two hits apiece for the GreenJackets in Friday night’s contest.

Adalberto Mejia was credited with the loss. Mejia pitched six innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five batters.

Five RiverDog batters each had a hit on the night.

Phil Wetherell recorded the win for Charleston. Wetherell allowed only one run on six hits and struck out six batters.
