Augusta, Ga--When you play 500 ball for the season and bow out in the sub region playoff a coach will tell you they missed out on something. For Richmond Academy, I seriously doubt they'll miss out on much this time around.

The Academy has a lot of pieces in place to be a serious contender for a region crown and a spot in the post season. This may be one of the more athletic teams in the area that has only grown in the experience department. A lot of juniors saw a lot of playing time a year ago and they've worked hard in the off season to get even better.

"we're real athletic at all our skill positions this year" said coach Chris Hughes "so we feel real good about that. Our guys worked real hard to get faster and stronger. We feel like we can compete with most people as far as athleticism"

"You know the fact that we kind of let our previous teams down, didn't get to the state playoffs, you know that was a bit upsetting. I hope this year we can make them proud and get back up there." added Will Jones

Cj Welcher is a ruturing back that can be a game changer but coach Chris Hughes knows they have to keep him healthy after being dinged up a bit in the past. Expect a little more balance on offense and with one of the top lineman in the state in Will Jones up front, the Musketeers may be able to score some points. They also want to get that bitter taste of losing in the subregion playoff game out of their mouths.
