Falcons key in on Kaepernick as NFC title game looms

T-minus one day until only the third conference championship game in Atlanta Falcons history.

The NFC's top seed is an underdog, but that doesn't mean much this time of year.

One of the main focuses falls on San Francisco Quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

He hasn't even been under center for a full season, but he proved what he's capable of, unraveling Green Bay's defense a week ago.

One bright spot for the Falcons...they see running quarterback Cam Newton twice a year, and matched up with Seattle's Russell Wilson just last week.

Head Coach Mike Smith said, "We've had to experience in terms of putting together a game plan. Colin's got some very good long speed, and he can take up a lot of ground while running when he gets out in the open. So, it's going to be very important for us to be disciplined in our defensive assignments when we take on that type of offense."

For those who aren't a Falcons fan and want a reason to cheer for San Fran, there is one.

Former Butler star Carlos Rogers is with the Niners. He was a Pro Bowler last year and will see plenty of action tomorrow in the Dome.
