USCA and Thomson's Tankersley named PBC Freshman of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken freshman baseball player Will Tankersley was chosen as the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday, Mar. 12, 2012.

Tankersley hit .421 in five games for the Pacers last week. He finished the week with a slugging percentage of .842.

The Thomson High School product hit .455 in USC Aiken’s three-game league series with Columbus State.

Overall on the week, Tankersley had five doubles and one home run. He had four runs scored and three RBIs.

The Thomson, Ga. native is presently eighth in the PBC in doubles. He is hitting .388 with a .653 slugging percentage this season.

Tankersley and nationally 14th-ranked USC Aiken (15-6, 7-5 PBC) have four games this week at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

The Pacers will first welcome Limestone at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 14.

The Pacers will close out their week with a three-game home league series with Georgia Southwestern.

The three-game league set will commence with a 6 p.m. game on Friday, Mar. 16. One day later, the three-game series will end with a doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 17.
