Send Edgefield Co. teacher's aide accused of sexual battery involving student

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A teacher's aide at an Edgefield County high school is in jail, accused of sexual battery with a student.

Investigators are looking into whether 31-year-old Gamil Lamont Lopez had sex with a student.

The school system says it found text messages exchanged between the two that were sexual in nature.

Superintendent Greg Anderson says Lopez has been suspended with pay until the investigation is over.
