AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has just learned Terrace Manor Elementary has found a new principal.

Major Lee was approved for the position by Board of Education members Tuesday evening.

Lee was working as the assistant principal at Langford Middle School. He says his focus is all about the children, making sure they are getting a quality education.

"I plan on coming in and trying to regain some of the confidence that perhaps has been lost, trying to make the community secure in knowing that it's a quality school, it has been a quality school, and I only plan on enhancing that quality," Lee said.

The school's previous principal, Hartley Gibbons, retired last month. He was put on administrative leave after storming out of a Board of Education meeting, claiming his school was not getting the attention it needed. Gibbons made claims of unsafe conditions at the school, saying mold and asbestos were inside.

School district administrators say testing has proven the school is safe.
