AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has just learned former Parks and Rec Facilities Director Tom Beck has filed a lawsuit against the county.
In the lawsuit, Beck claims he was fired unfairly amid an investigation into time card fraud. He says he was following federal labor standards when he allowed an employee to use comp time before taking medical leave.
The lawsuit even names City Administrator Fred Russell, saying he "evidenced willful conduct, fraud, wantonness, oppression and that entire want of care which raises the presumption of conscious indifference to consequences." Click here to read the lawsuit.
"We did receive a letter from his attorney this morning. And, obviously, I can't comment on ongoing litigation," Russell said.
News 12 has obtained a copy of the lawsuit. More information to come.
