The South Carolina Office of Regulatory Services released information on a possible loss of phone services on Wednesday.
The outage applies to landlines only, not cellphone service.
The release states: "Customers of DialTone & More, Inc. in AT&T service areas may lose telephone service. DialTone & More, Inc. leases facilities from AT&T for the provision of telephone service. AT&T has notified DialTone & More, Inc. and the ORS of potential disconnection of service, effective March 1.
Officers of DialTone & More, Inc. have not responded to inquiries from the ORS. Therefore, we are issuing this alert to approximately 5,700 consumers who receive local telephone service from DialTone & More, Inc. in the following counties: Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Charleston, Cherokee, Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Edgefield Fairfield, Florence, Greenville, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lexington, Marlboro, Marion, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg and York.
