AUGUSTA, Ga. -- One man is in the hospital after a shooting at the intersection of Golden Camp Road and Deans Bridge Road early Tuesday morning.
It happened right after 1:30 a.m.
Investigators say a 37-year-old black male was shot in the jaw with a small caliber gun and is being treated at GHSU. He is responsive but is in serious condition.
We are told three men, the victim and two friends, were walking along Deans Bridge Road when a shot came out of nowhere and struck the victim in the jaw.
Witnesses say there was no one around so it appears the shot came from a car. There were vehicles traveling in both directions at the time. Deputies are unable to confirm where the shot came from.
Investigators have interviewed both witnesses and the victim. They are working to figure out how and why the shooting happened.
