AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Deputies in Richmond County responded to an accident Sunday afternoon after a car hit a pedestrian on Bobby Jones Expressway.

It happened around 4 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of Bobby Jones near the Gordon Highway exit.

Witnesses say clothes fell out of the back of a truck traveling eastbound and when the driver pulled over to collect those items, he was hit by a Pontiac.

The man struck is said to be in stable condition but suffered injures to his legs and upper body.

The accident caused traffic delays on both directions.
