GROVETOWN, Ga. -- Tripp Giffin and Andrew Stewart hang on the fences in anticipation of racing at their home track again.

"We've been having to go to other tracks," Giffin said.

"Lawndale is about five hours and Swainsboro is an hour and a half," Stewart said.

They've been traveling all over the place to keep racing, but on July 14, they'll be able to race back home at Gordon Park Speedway. The state shut the track down in May for not having the proper license. Then, they found safety issues the track needed to fix.

"We're approved by the state. Everything is done that they wanted done," said Brian Stewart, general manager of Gordon Park.

They're allowed to open back up, but the general manager said the fight's not over. He estimates the whole process cost him hundreds of thousands in revenue. He also believes Columbia County unfairly targeted his business for investigation, so now, he's pursuing avenues to take legal action against the county.

"We'll let the lawyers handle that and work that out," he said. "The way we were treated from the county," he paused. "They treated us like a bunch of criminals."
