AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. -- A crash just before midnight on New Holland Road killed one Wagener man and injured three others Thursday.

Chase Ray, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene at the intersection of New Holland and Gunter Pond roads.

Ray was driving a Honda Civic north on New Holland Road when a Ford F150 didn't stop at a stop sign and ran into Ray's car. Ray, who was wearing a seat belt, was trapped inside the vehicle and his 19-year-old passenger was taken to a Columbia hospital via helicopter.

The driver of the truck said his accelerator did not work. He and his passenger were also injured, but their conditions are not known at this time.

The accident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner's Office. This marks the ninth fatal crash for Aiken County in 2012.
