AUGUSTA, Ga. --- There's a long list of things you can't bring onto the Augusta National Golf Course, but News 12 caught some people on Thursday doing just that. Some of the them say they simply forgot!

The turnstiles are turning for this first round of the 2008 Masters. On Thursday, our camera caught some people trying to enter the course with things like cell phones in their pockets. That's one of the many prohibited items at Augusta National. Many of the people said they didn't realize the items were in their pockets.

Paul Staab took a long glance at the long list this morning.

"I think it's a little overboard," he says. "I guess I can only come with my clothes on."

The weirdest ban to him is, "probably ladders and periscopes." His friend adds, "and the 30 items!"

News 12: "You don't have any cell phones on you, do you?"

Paul: "Oh, of course not!"

News 12: "Any ladders?"

Paul: "No."

News 12: "Unless you're hiding it, I don't see it either!"

Paul: "And actually, I probably would not tell you even if I did."

He's safe, but our camera caught some no-nos. One guy trying to bring in a book bag was caught. Another person was trying to bring in a bag that was just a little too big. They can't be any bigger than 10"x5"x5".

The guard at the turnstile was calling out repeatedly on Thursday that cell phones were not allowed. But our camera caught one person bringing a phone in without realizing they still had it in their pocket.

An accident about 20 years ago was when Donna Irwin forgot about one big thing.

"We brought our camera in and we got all the way to the gate. We forgot that we had it in our bags," says Donna.

Wally Boyd found out the hard way last year about one bad.

"I would highly recommend don't bring your pocket knife to the Masters," says Wally.

It's only day one of the Tournament, so there is some great advice there. If you don't know if you can bring it in, just don't bring it at all. That way, you can save a lot of time and hassle, and you can enjoy the serene feeling of the Masters.
